2024 Scholarship
The Mary Jo DelVero Memorial Scholarship, previously called the Muses of Dionysus Performing Arts Scholarship, was developed to help support graduating high school students with a passion for the performing arts who are planning on furthering their training.
The Muses of Dionysus, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides opportunities to local Livingston County youth with an interest in the performing arts. The charitable purpose of the Muses of Dionysus is to receive and administer funds and to attain community support to allow The DIO Theater, a professional theater company in Pinckney, Michigan, to operate a community-based arts institution, and to promote the advancement of the arts. Providing performing arts opportunities to the community’s youth is important to our organization, therefore we are providing a scholarship opportunity for graduating high school students interested in performing arts training.
A $1,500.00 Scholarship is open to students who meet the following criteria:

Graduation eligible high school seniors at a Livingston County High School or that are Livingston County residents and attend private or home schools

Grade Point average at or above a 3.0 (measured on a 4.0 scale)

Active in performing art through school, extracurricular activities or additional training

Students must already be accepted into a college or institution with a performing arts program
The scholarship will help fund tuition at said college or institution with a performing arts program
The Mary Jo DelVero Memorial scholarship recipient will be chosen by the Muses of Dionysus board of directors and shall be limited to one award for undergraduate studies at a performing arts college or institution or post-high school performing arts program, effective beginning the 2023-2024 academic year.
All completed applications submitted on or before May 15th, 2024 will be considered.

The Mary Jo Del Vero Memorial Scholarship is lovingly named for educator and Arts advocate, Mary Jo Del Vero, who left us unexpectedly and far too soon in 2020. She was a talented performer, appearing in productions across Livingston County, including at The Dio where she sang in many fundraising concerts that made our work possible, and where she originated the role of Betty Sue Franklin in our original Christmas musical, Home for the Holidays. MJ was a dear friend to Dio co-founders, Steve DeBruyne and Matt Tomich, as well as to the President of The Muses of Dionysus, Taylor Epp. She is greatly missed.
