A Campaign to Give Our Talented Actors a Raise

We want to give our actors a raise. We need your help.

Our actors have appeared on The Dio stage as everything from a group of strippers (Rock of Ages), the residents of Armadillo Acres (The Great American Trailer Park Musical), an unhappy housewife and the man that could take her away (The Bridges of Madison County) and a collection of statues and gargoyles hanging off the edge of a cathedral (The Hunchback of Notre Dame). These talented performers have brought hundreds of characters to life for our audiences, and we want to do more for them.

If you’ve ever seen one of our audition notices, you know that our actors are paid modestly at The Dio. The cost of producing a full season of plays and musicals is nothing to sneeze at, and when you throw in the cost of rent and utilities, we are on a tight budget. Then figure in a company of over 50 actors per season…the price tag is high for a 70 seat house. Ticket sales only cover a fraction of what we do at The Dio, and many of our guests have decided to become donors to give extra support to our work. Well, we are asking for your help again.

Since our first production, Artistic Director, Steve DeBruyne, has voiced his desire to be able to increase our actor pay. We’re hoping that after 7 seasons of unforgettable performances from some of Michigan’s most talented performers, that you might help us to make that goal a reality.

We would like to increase our actor’s pay by $5 per performance with an additional $20 for rehearsals. The total raise per actor will vary based on the length of each show’s run, but this season alone, this raise would account for at least $100 extra dollars per performer, and more for actors in a production with more performances.

Based on the number of actors we estimate will appear on our stage this season, and the varying number of performances per production, we are hoping to raise a total of $6,960 with the help of our generous patrons and our non-profit board of directors, The Muses of Dionysus, a 501©3 organization.

If you feel that our performers are deserving of a little extra compensation for the work that they bring to our stage, click on the button below to make a tax-deductible donation, 100% of which will go into the pockets of the actors that make you laugh, make you cry and make you want to get up and dance when you join us for a show at The Dio!

We thank you for your help in taking the next step for our talented and dedicated performers!
